A beautiful day for a ride...

Birds are chirping, people smiling, and for the most part the sun is shining. So the way I see it it's time for a joyride. I have a healthy brunch of eggs, hashbrown, pancetta and coffee. I know how important fuel is for a ride. Then I fill my water bottle, pat my dogs head and head on out.

A popular saying for the state of Alabama is "Alabama the beautiful". I can hear, see, and smell this in the yearling days of Spring. Birds chirping, a sweet scent of Japanese magnolias and local wildflowers intoxicating me in my ride. One thing is for damn sure though... Birmingham is not flat. I (after about an hour and a half on the saddle) settled next to an old cannon that, I like to believe, some young bohemians decided needed color and splashed with paint like some sleepy Pollock piece. What a view it was... the cannon of color keeping watch on the golf courses of today. It was a good ride...
