Great causes and bikes.
Raising money and all sorts of bike related items and events have always gone together like bib shorts and jerseys (bike joke?). While on the amazing interwebs I stumbled across this great fundraising cause.
Now, maybe I should feel more apprehensive putting another cause besides my participation with Bike the US for MS up but I was moved. This is just fundraising to give a 13 year old girl the liver and kidney transplant that could save her life.
As good a story as this is how is it bike related?
Well the people over at Ibis cycles donated one sexy bike that you could win. Five dollars gets you in the "raffle" and every five you donate on top of that increases your chances appropriately. (And it's a really sexy bike!)
Now obviously I want and need everyones help to make the goal I set to fight the very serious and personal disease of MS. But when I saw this I was moved to at least move along the link.
In my personal fight against MS my fundraising bar is steadily growing at 42% with $2570! I am elated at the response that was given by the incredibly kind friends and family of my mother and father. I still need everyones help. I want to blow past my $6k goal and into the fight against this terrible affliction.

the 83 year old Japanese woman who escaped the tsunami by bicycle!
This is the incredible story of an 83 year old woman who escaped the tsunami by bicycle in Japan when one of the most horrible natural disasters of modern time literally shook the foundation of Japan itself. Worth a watch.

A beautiful day for a ride...
Birds are chirping, people smiling, and for the most part the sun is shining. So the way I see it it's time for a joyride. I have a healthy brunch of eggs, hashbrown, pancetta and coffee. I know how important fuel is for a ride. Then I fill my water bottle, pat my dogs head and head on out.

The love for bikes as old as the bikes themselves!
Looking over the interwebs I found this little block of diamond. Here is the link for Edouardi Sepulchro's video documenting Eroica2010.
This is a very well made video showing how many different kinds of people turn out for a shared love of vintage bicycles and other velo history. And boy are there some magnificent old steeds shown!
